Jerusalem — Between East and West
This original hand-cut paper artwork is my personal vision of Jerusalem — a city that has held a special place in my heart since childhood and has been my home for almost thirty years. Jerusalem stands at the center of the composition, surrounded by symbols and images reflecting the many faces of the city. The artwork explores the meeting of East and West — Mizrah (מזרח) and Maarav (מערב) — and the delicate balance between opposites. Light and darkness, ancient and modern, East and West, tranquility and intensity coexist within one city. Among the intricate details are stars, a bear symbolizing the North, and the Lion of Jerusalem, one of the city’s most recognizable symbols. For me, Jerusalem is a city of contrasts that somehow manages to hold everything together in a remarkable balance. Original hand-cut paper artwork.
