Motherhood Between Worlds

HODAYA AVITON

$792

At the center of the composition stands a woman whose heart blossoms into a garden of red roses, while mothers surrounding her gently cradle their newborn children. Their encounter does not exist within a single reality, but within a symbolic space where longing, love, hope, and loss coexist. The blooming roses in place of her heart symbolize a love that never disappears, even as it changes form. They represent an inner life filled with longing for motherhood, the strength to grow through pain, and the quiet hope that survives even in uncertainty. Motherhood Between Worlds explores the emotional space between what already exists and what is still waiting to be born—between memory and dream, loss and hope, womanhood and renewal. It is a reflection on a love that transcends physical reality, living instead within the heart, where it continues to bloom in silence.

I create in a deeply intuitive way. My artworks begin with something that happens within me a feeling, a thought, a question, or a personal experience. From there, they move outward and meet the world. It is precisely the encounter between my inner world and the external world and sometimes the tension between the two that inspires my work. From this space emerge questions that continuously occupy me: Who are we? What do we believe in? Where do we belong? And how do love, identity, religion, and faith shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us? My creative process is long and multi-layered. It begins with traditional materials, where I create a pencil drawing. I then photograph the work, digitally paint and edit it using professional software, integrate AI as part of the creative process, refine it through further digital editing, and finally produce a high-quality print. Some works are completed with hand-applied markers and paint, adding additional shading, texture, and depth, making each piece unique. I do not always know where a work will lead me. Sometimes I begin with one emotion and discover something entirely different by the end of the process. Perhaps that is why, for me, every artwork becomes a gateway to a world I have not yet discovered.
