Golden Hour
A digitally edited photograph of a mountain range painted in a variety of colors. The work takes inspiration from the warm colors of the landscape paintings known from the iconic photography of the American Midwest, and builds on the aesthetics of the famous paintings of one of Japan's greatest artists, Katsushika Hokusai.

Ido Marom, photographer and artist, lives and works in Givatayim. BFA in Photography, Minshar School of Art. His work in the field of contemporary art combines photography with digital editing. Ido compiled a large archive of photographs during extended stays abroad. In his works he returns to these foreign landscapes, and revisits the original experience of encountering them since human memory tends to distort that experience. After a computer error caused significant changes in the appearance of the images, he decided to use this as a basis for rethinking the landscape. Ido chose not to hide those changes, and aims to create a new, imaginative representation of nature. Through manual editing, the initial pixelation of the image, and a reconstruction that seeks to restore the original visual quality of the photograph while preserving the distortions, he strives to emphasize imperfections as an integral part of the beauty and uniqueness of the work.
